I was promised a return phone call to confirm that Ionos would be removing the past due amount from my account and stopping any further collections agency attempts. It has been 8 days and I have not heard from anyone. It is quite frustrating since the "past due" amount was due to a mistake made by one of their customer service representatives and not myself.
I host a VPS there and it randomly lost connectivity. I consoled in and found that it had lost its IP and wasn't receiving it again through DHCP (static IPs are assigned through DHCP on their service). I contacted support through chat and explained the problem and received some boiler-plate replies. I re-iterated that I'd checked my firewall settings and had rebooted to no avail. I explained that it appeared to be a DHCP issue on their end. I was then advised that if I didn't have a competent network admin available (I'm a senior SRE of 15 years) that I would be charged $75 an hour to have them sort it out. I promptly cancelled my contract. The service is cheap, but I expect more than that from support.Just to finish, the server did get its IP back through DHCP about an hour later. Obviously, there was an issue with their DHCP server that was sorted but not acknowledged.
I told Don that I needed a windows server with a dedicated IP address that supports Node.js. He showed me a few options and explained each as they addressed my needs. He was knowledgable and very helpful. It was a quick and painless process. Thank you Don!
